why stainless steel

why stainless steel?

Firstly, what is stainless steel? Stainless steel is a generic term for a family of corrosion resistant alloy steels containing 10.5% or more chromium. The chromium reacts with oxygen in the air to form an invisible, protective chrome-oxide surface layer.

Ecococoon provides cups and bottles in 18/8 or 304 stainless steel. The first number is the percentage of chromium that is contained in the stainless and the second number relates to the percentage of nickel.

The Ecococoon stainless steel cups and bottles fully comply with the test requirements of AS/NZS 4020:2005. This is an Australian and New Zealand Standard for analysing the suitability of products for use in contact with drinking water, with regard to the effects on water quality.

Stainless steel is an incredibly durable material, with a high resistance to corrosion which will ensure that your Ecococoon products last. Exterior non-lead paint will wear in time but will have no affect on the function and use of the cup.
